SHELTERS
WARNING: Both AHS & MCACC charge surrender fees & all animals taken to the Arizona Humane Society and county shelters are at risk of being euthanized; they may euthanize any animal under 6 weeks of age, or displaying any health or behavioral issue whatsoever, or simply due to overcrowding. The County is required to hold all other animals at least 72 hours, but the Humane Society is not. DO NOT take feral cats or kittens to either shelter - they could be euthanized immediately (considered not adoptable).

Cats that test positive for FIV/Felv - please contact us for help in placing a positive cat.
At this time, there are only a few rescues/sanctuaries in Arizona that intake positive cats, but there are websites you can list them on for networking and a Facebook group.
Fiv and FELV cats that need homes www.facebook.com/groups/90889319397
However, always screen very carefully when dealing with someone you don't know. Please email us for more info on caring for and/or placing an FELV+ cat.
Cats with FIV can live and interact normally with other cats as long as there is not fighting/biting; Cats with Felv (feline leukemia) must be only cat in household or with other positive cats, however, if taken good care of they can live quite a long time. Contact rescues for help in placing such a cat.
